Why faux florals are the perfect choice for your elopement

If you’re planning on eloping - congratulations! Elopements are perfect for incorporating your personality, tastes, interests, and favorite locations into your wedding. They’re an ultra-personal way to get married, and I simply love when couples elope!

For destination elopements, you’re probably asking yourself what all you need to tackle when you get to where you’re heading. When your flight lands, you will likely have some last minute arrangements to make and things to pick up. You may have ordered a cake. You may need to meet up with your photographer to do some location scouting. Your wedding attire will probably need to be steamed, and you need to get settled into your hotel - oh, and you’ll want to spend some time enjoying yourself!

Many things can be brought with you - dresses, suits, rings, vow books, jewelry, and if you’re venturing somewhere remote, you may need hiking gear and a change of shoes.

Florals are a great thing to add to your pack-ahead list. There are so many reasons why faux florals make the perfect choice for elopements.

It’s one less thing to worry about when you get there

This is the obvious one. When your flight lands and you head to your Airbnb, you probably have a list of things you need to do. Buying live flowers and making your own bouquet quite honestly can be overwhelming to tackle by yourself last minute. You would also need to plan when to create it, timing wise, to keep it fresh. Sure, you can buy a grab and go bouquet at the local grocery store or flower shop - if there is one around. But with faux florals, you can have your flowers designed ahead of time, custom for you, based on your inspo photos, that aren’t put together last minute with whatever is available.

They’re easy to travel with

Faux bouquets pack easily into a suitcase. When I create an Elopement Pack for a couple, I have portability in mind. I’m very intentional about sizing, making them manageable while still being abundant with beautiful flowers. I pre-attach boutonnieres with pins so that all you need to do is attach it and go. I use materials that can be packed with some pressure into a suitcase, and be easily fluffed to their original shape once you get where you’re going. Faux flowers are mounted on wire, after all! They lend themselves to travel - if a stem bends, just bend it back, and you’re all set!

They’re super durable

I reinforce every flower with glue so each bloom stays put during your trip. If your elopement plans include hiking to the top of a mountain, boating out to the middle of a lake, rock climbing, or — well, you get the idea — you won’t need to worry about your flowers getting damaged en route to your ceremony spot. You also don’t need to forgo flowers, as you might feel that live flowers will not hold up for such a trip. Faux florals are the perfect solution as they can withstand quite a bit.

Zero wilting

Live flowers are beautiful, but they wilt rather quickly when exposed to the elements. This is true for any wedding, but it’s especially true if you’re in a harsh climate for your elopement, whether it’s very hot or very cold. Your flowers are only going to hold up so long hiking in the desert heat or in direct sun. Faux flowers will stay in perfect condition for you all day long.

You get to keep them forever

Elopements are amazing, but one thing you sacrifice is many of the keepsakes that come with planning a larger wedding. When you go with a faux bouquet, you get to keep your flowers forever. They’re not just a great memory from your day, but they can pull double duty as decor around your house (with a fun story behind them!), and can be passed down as family heirlooms. This is why I named my business Heirloom Floral!

And of course, there are no surprises the day of

One of the nicest perks to using faux florals is that they can be created far ahead of time. I always send a mockup photo before finalizing your bouquet and other pieces so that you have time to give input. This means you know exactly what you’re getting well before your wedding, and it will be custom designed just for you. You can be confident your personality and taste will be reflected.

I wish you all the best for your big day! To order your Elopement Pack, check out this page on my website - the order form is at the end. Cheers, and happy planning!
